Trinbago Knight Riders open Caribbean Premier League title defence with victory

24/12/2019 in KFIT

Since their tile defence started having an 11-run triumph over St Kitts & Nevis 27, 47 smashed off 32 balls.
Pollard’s knock, which featured three sixes and four fours, constructed on solid middle-order contributions from Dinesh Ramdin (33 away 32) and player-of-the-match James Neesham (33 off 30).
Together they pulled Knight Riders into 152-7 after Sheldon Cottrell (3-13) had put the skids under the top order. 3-39 was ripped by seamer Rayad Emrit, including the wicket of Pollard whose innings ended when he was captured at deep pay.
All-rounder Neesham (3-18) and pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain (3-36), also playing their first game for Trinbago, subsequently held sway with the ball since the Patriots folded from 70-1 to 76-5.
Neesham started the rust from breaking an opening-wicket stand of 47 between Kjorn Ottley (25) and Evin Lewis (36), who fell to Khary Pierre (2-20).
The pursuit was as good as up when skipper Carlos Brathwaite was run out to 2 following a mix-up with Mohammad Hafeez (16) and though Fabian Allan (30 away 14) and Usama Mir (24 off 10) did their best to drag things back, the goal proved out of reach with all the innings final on 141 away 19.4 overs.
